User account

When you create an access or sign in, we process your email address, a phone number if you provide one, your preferences and the technical information required for authentication.

Purpose: giving you access to your area and to personalised services. Legal basis: performance of the service you request.

Donors and donations

We process the information required to track a donation, to provide access to the donor area, to issue a donation record when that function is enabled, and to comply with the association's accounting and tax obligations.

Legal bases: performance of the requested service, and legal and accounting obligations where they apply.

Payments

THORA FREE does not directly store full bank card details. Payments may be handled by a payment provider such as Stripe when that path is enabled, under its own terms and privacy policy.

Bank-transfer donations

A donation announced by bank transfer is first recorded as pending. Once the association has verified actual receipt, it is confirmed manually and moves to paid. We then process only the information needed to reconcile the donation.

Transactional emails

We may send you emails strictly related to the service: secure access to your area, information about a donation, delivery of a donation record where applicable.

Legal basis: performance of the requested service.

Donor area

Access to the donor area is secured and may use a temporary sign-in link sent by email. Each person only accesses their own information and their own donations.

Contact messages

Messages you send us, and the contact details needed to reply, are processed solely to handle your request.

Torah Assistant

Questions asked to the Torah Assistant may be processed by the technical and artificial-intelligence systems required to produce an answer with sources.

The Torah Assistant is a study tool: it is not a rabbinical authority and does not replace consulting a Rav for a personal decision.

Preferences

Your language, city, reading, Maasser, notification and other product settings are kept in your browser or app so that your configuration is preserved.

Geolocation

• Location permission is only requested after an explicit action from you (“Use my location”).
• Precise coordinates are not kept by THORA FREE.
• Under the current implementation, coordinates are not sent to our servers.
• Only the selected city preference is stored locally on your device.

Technical logs

Technical information may be recorded to ensure service security, incident diagnosis and the proper operation of the platform. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

Legal bases

• Performance of the service you request (account, area access, donation tracking, reply to a message).
• Legal, accounting and tax obligations for donation-related records where they apply.
• Legitimate interest for security, abuse prevention and proper operation of the service.
• Consent where an optional feature requires it, for example access to your location.

Retention periods

• User accounts: for as long as the account is used, then deletion or anonymisation after 2 years of inactivity, subject to legal obligations requiring certain data to be kept separately.
• Donations, records and accounting documents: 10 years for items required by accounting and tax obligations.
• Contact messages: 3 years after the last exchange.
• Technical and security logs: 12 months maximum, unless a specific need arises from an incident or a legal obligation.
• Local preferences: until you delete them or clear your browser or app data.
• Geolocation: precise coordinates are not retained; only the city preference under the current behaviour.
• Torah Assistant: only what is necessary for the service to work. No permanent retention is promised; if a personal history is offered later, dedicated information will be provided.

Processors and service providers

We only use the services required for the website to work:

• Platform infrastructure and hosting, and the technical delivery of the website.
• Database and authentication service used by the application.
• Transactional email sending service.
• Payment provider for card donations when that path is enabled.
• Artificial-intelligence services and study sources required by the Torah Assistant.
• An external donation form still used for part of the donation path; information entered there is processed under that service's own policy.

Your rights

Under the conditions set by applicable regulation, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure where applicable, restriction, objection, portability where applicable, and the right to withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

To exercise these rights, write to delphine.thorafree@gmail.com. Records that must be kept under legal or accounting obligations cannot be deleted before the applicable term.

You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the competent supervisory authority in France.
